Hot Pickled Peppers

Maudlin is a conceptual hot pickled pepper brand designed to resonate with a Gen-Z audience and position itself as a colorful staple of parties and social gatherings. The project originated from a brief where each designer was given a defining trait to translate into a brand identity, and the word assigned to me was vulnerability. I interpreted this idea through the sensory experience of the product itself: the moment someone throws a pepper into their mouth and instantly becomes vulnerable to the heat. For a brief second the reaction is honest, intense, and impossible to hide, but it is quickly followed by the surprising pleasure of the flavor. This contrast between the initial shock and the enjoyable aftertaste became the core of the brand concept, inspiring a playful, expressive identity that celebrates raw reactions, bold colors, and a relatable sense of shared experience.
